Anyone have a spare $490?

Stop, before you make me want one, yet again. I toyed with the idea of buying one for years, but the price just wasn’t worth it in my opinion. Says the guy who wants to buy increasingly expensive camera lenses.

I’d kill to get back into nitro RC. I had one for a few months and loved everything about it. It needed an engine rebuild, which I did and made it so much faster.

$490 will only get you by for the first week! When I bought my first nitro RC years ago, I went through a gallon of fuel, a set of tires, and a pair of clutch shoes (sheered the pins clean) in a week. I was at the hobby store that I bought it from almost every weekend, fixing something, or getting another hop up part.
I am embarrassed to admit how much money I have sunk into nitro RC’s in the past. If I ever get another, I’m going electric. Nitro is cool but requires constant cleaning, tuning, carb adjusting

And I find all that maintenance fun!

Three speed?

Yea I don’t mind the maintenance, but I wish the ratio of maintenance fun/driving fun was a little closer to equal.
I’ve clocked hours with two nitro RS4's and a T-Maxx, building them up, tearing them down, fixing, cleaning, upgrading etc... it’s really cool to be able to take apart an entire “motor vehicle” at your desk.
However the amount of time that I have had any one them running properly can be measured in minutes. I never even bothered putting the body on them unless I had to for racing. By running properly I mean getting through an entire tank of gas without stalling, and having the fuel trimmed just right so that you can hammer on the gas without any hesitation, and without the engine bogging down.

Had the OG version of this a Kyosho Mad Force. It’s a wheely machine through and through. busting through all three gears on the rear tires is a treat. Very tough truck. Only time i had any issue was a backflip that landed on the top of the truck. Managed to bend the frame section the motor is mounted on and all the fins on the head. An aftermarket tuned pipe from an Ofna monster pirate really made it come to life.
